One of the most powerful parts of PCM is watching students grow across multiple years. Students often begin by learning notes, chords, rhythm, and stage presence — but over time, they also build confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience, and lifelong friendships. Opportunities like these summer intensives are the culmination of years of hard work, mentorship, and artistic growth.
At PCM, music education is rooted in Creative Youth Development — an approach that recognizes young people thrive when they are seen, heard, challenged, supported, and celebrated. Through meaningful artistic experiences and mentorship, students are empowered not only to develop their musicianship, but to discover themselves, build confidence, and forge pathways for their futures.
“These opportunities are transformational for our students,” said Regina Nixon, Executive Director of PCM. “For many young musicians, this is their first opportunity to live on a college campus, collaborate with peers from across the country, study with nationally recognized faculty, and envision a future in higher education and the music industry. We are incredibly proud of these students and grateful to the community that helps make these experiences- that are not just summer memories; but truly transformative pathways to scholarships and other opportunities that make higher education possible.”
PCM believes financial barriers should never prevent talented young musicians from accessing high-level educational opportunities. This summer, PCM expects to provide approximately $21,000 in support for tuition gaps, travel, housing, meals, and related expenses to ensure all participating students can fully access these experiences.
PCM is honored to receive $5,000 in support from Arizona Musicfest to help offset summer intensive scholarship expenses for participating students.
Community Support Needed
Community members interested in supporting the next generation of young musicians are encouraged to make a donation to PCM’s Summer Intensive Scholarship Fund.
