Learning Through Music

Thanks to support from the Arizona Department of Education ESSER III set aside funds, this program is tuition free for families who qualify for free or reduced lunch or attend a Title 1 school.
The Learning Through Music program is a new program to our organization that was created out of an opportunity to scale our programs through the Arizona Department of Education’s ESSER III Set Aside Funds and has dedicated funding through September 2024.  The goals of the program are to:

  • Provide 80 Pre-K and Early Childhood Cooperative Learning Academic Integrated Programs to students and families that reinforce school day learning and accelerate early childhood literacy.
  • Provide 100 After School Title One/ Free-Reduced Lunch Students in Grades K-2 three Tuition Free group Music Classes per week:  Music FUNdamentals, Music and Movement, and Beginning Piano.  Our focus is to bridge the learning gap for music education due to COVID-19 shutdowns and hybrid/online learning models and reinforce school day learning.
  • Provide 100 After School Title One/ Free-Reduced Lunch Students in Grades 3-8 one Tuition Free Private Music Lessons per week and one Tuition Free Group Music Classes focused in music creation each week.  Our focus is to bridge the learning gap for music education due to COVID-19 shutdowns and hybrid/online learning models and reinforce school day learning.
  • Provide 60 After School Title One/ Free-Reduced Lunch in grades 9-12 with Tuition Free Private Music Lessons, Music Theory Classes and Music Creation Classes for 2.5 hours each week. Our focus is to bridge the learning gap for music education due to COVID-19 shutdowns and hybrid/online learning models and reinforce school day learning.
  • Provide a free homework help and dinner service for all Phoenix Conservatory of Music students from 5:00-7:15p Monday through Friday.
The service of providing Enrichment and Reinforcement of Learning is met with the above specific facilitation through high quality after school programs and increased access to extracurriculars. These activities will be implemented with specific components that will assist in responding to students’ academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Parent/Tot Music Time

For ages 6 mo. through 3 years with a parent/caregiver

Build basic music competency in a play-based, fun family setting full of amazing developmental assets and priceless family bonding!

Pre-K Music School

For ages 3 through 5 (Children must be potty trained)

Phoenix Conservatory of Music’s Pre-K Music School is a bilingual, fun, social, play-based way to build music competency in young children through music learning games, music and movement activities, musical stories, music technology, direct instruction on classroom instruments, singing, and piano.

The program is set up to mimic a preschool but uses MUSIC as the teaching methodology! Students will have the opportunity to create, collaborate, and communicate through the power of music! As they learn music, they will develop “extra” vitamins like small and gross motor skills, awareness of rhyming words, sight words, symbol and sound relationships, numeracy, letter recognition, patterning, sequencing, and more! 

The program will be on Monday/Wednesday from 8:45a-11:45a or Tuesday/Thursday from 8:45a-11:45a.  Maximum enrollment is 16 students per class. Register below, or for more information, please email Karen kturnerdoma@pcmrocks.org

Learning Through Music for Grades K-2

The lucky student who enrolls in this program will pick a day of the week, Monday through Friday, to come to PCM between 3:30 and 3:45p.  Starting at 3:45 p.m., they will receive a 30-minute music FUNdamentals class, a 30-minute SEL class, and a 30-minute music and movement class. 

At the end of the day, students will receive homework help and free dinner before the 5:30 p.m. program ends.  To register, pick the one day of the week your student will attend and register them.

Learning Through Music for Grades 3-8

The lucky student who enrolls in this program will pick a day of the week, Monday through Friday, to come to PCM between 5:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Starting at 5:15 p.m., your student will receive one 30-minute private music lesson and one 45-minute music creation class (beat making, audio production, songwriting, etc.), homework help/flex/free time (please use this time to get homework done or read a book) and free dinner.

To register, pick the one day of the week your student will attend and register them.  Email us the type of instrument your student wants to learn!

This is a tuition free program for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch or attend a Title 1 school. 

Learning Through Music for Grades 9-12

The lucky student who enrolls in this program will pick a day of the week, Monday through Friday, to come to PCM between 6:15 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.  Starting at 6:15 p.m., your student will receive one 30-minute private music lesson, and a 45-minute music creation class (beat making, audio production, songwriting, etc.).   Your student may have flex/free time (please use this time to get homework done; tutors available- or read a book) and free dinner. 

Beginner students are welcome; however, students with more than one year of playing experience can audition for ensembles.  To register, pick the one day of the week your student will attend and register them.  Email us the type of instrument your student wants to learn!
