The Arizona Lottery has been a wonderful supporter of Phoenix Conservatory of Music’s college prep program for the past several years. We are pleased to announce they will continue to offer one scholarship for room, board, and travel to a Berklee College of Music’s City Music Summer Scholar who will be traveling to Boston, Ma. in July for the Berklee Five Week Summer Performance Program. The scholar will receive a scholarship to assist with tuition in excess of $5,000 and the $4,500 of support from the Arizona Lottery will support one student’s room, board, and travel for the five weeks. This is a huge investment into one student for a five week experience. How does it pay off? Our scholars come back as peer leaders who are taking the experience and expertise they have been exposed to at Berklee and putting it into “play” right here at Phoenix Conservatory of Music. They bring back best practices, industry knowledge, experience and expertise and truly act as peer leaders whose purpose is to engage their fellow students in raising the bar and fostering a positive learning environment. This carries forward as our alumni who have participated in this program continue to give back to our community through volunteerism, internships, and peer leaders. Our 2017 Nominees are: Cian Callahan, Bri Bagley, Aida Farrally, Elijah Kreuger, Jude Poorten, Amaya Lim, Elena Rogers, Diego Gonzalez and Callie Young. These students underwent an intensive adjudication process prior to being considered for nomination and then once nominated auditioned with the Berklee City Music Network for a Summer Scholarship. We will announce our 2017 Scholarship Recipients at our Scholarship Celebration Concert on May 14!
