Phoenix, Arizona: The Phoenix Conservatory of Music (PCM) announces open auditions for the 2023-2024 College Prep Program. The award-winning College Prep Program seeks young musicians in grades 4-12 to participate in the 10-month afterschool music program.
Through a partnership with Berklee College of Music’s Berklee City Music Network, PCM utilizes the Berklee PULSE curriculum as a basis for this comprehensive and merit-based learning program. Students must audition and take a music theory assessment for placement in weekly music ensembles and music theory classes. Each student also receives a weekly private lesson, access to secondary bands and ensembles, and relevant enrichment classes.
PCM’s College Prep Program serves over 100 students annually, and to date, PCM alums have received over $3 million in scholarship offers to attend colleges such as Berklee College of Music, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Belmont University, Grand Canyon University, and Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, among others.
PCM’s Executive Director, Regina Nixon, states, “We want to make sure our students receive quality music education in a way that’s accessible to them as we move into different styles of music that they can adapt and explore. PCM wants to ensure young people are empowered to reach their full potential. Music education is how we do it, but the real purpose is so young people can fully become themselves.”
